Now second in line behind Stefan Klos, Allan McGregor has proved he is more than capable of being a worthy successor to Der Goalie.
After years of hard work McGregor is now starting to fulfil the promise he showed as a youngster within the Ibrox ranks.
When he arrived at the Club in the summer of 98 Allan was described as one of the best young goalkeepers in Europe.
This was a huge compliment and vote of confidence for the Edinburgh-born keeper and in the first few months he didn’t disappoint.
A serious wrist injury, however sustained during a youth match, followed by a broken hand almost destroyed his dreams and he was sidelined for nearly a year.
He is now back with a vengeance and showed his worth for the under-21s before being promoted to the first team by Alex
McLeish.
Having been handed his first top team appearance in the Scottish Cup, coming on after 70 minutes to replace Klos against Forfar in February 02, he was then awarded his first start against Dunfermline in the final game of last season.
Working alongside Stefan Klos and Billy Thompson has helped McGregor immensely and he is now hoping to build on his early success and progress even more in the years to come.
